The first midscale avid Hotels property in New York has been launched by IHG Hotels and Resorts.

Nearly 25 minutes from New York City lies the 636 86th Street location of the 76-room Avid Hotel Brooklyn-Dyker Heights, which offers the brand’s hallmark amenities like complimentary breakfast and wifi, a fitness center, and free coffee in the lobby all day.

More than 150 owners had shown interest in the concept at the time IHG launched the avid brand in 2017.

The company presently has 60 locations operating around the US, Mexico, and Canada, with another 146 in the queue, and this year it will mark five years since the first avid hotel opened (in Oklahoma City).

Other recent openings are avid Hotel Chicago O’Hare – Des Plaines and avid Hotel Toronto – Vaughan Southwest, both of which are close to Toronto Pearson International Airport.

Karen Gilbride, vice president of avid hotels, Atwell Suites, and Garner, commented on the news as follows:

This year is the fifth anniversary of the opening of Quail Springs, the first avid hotel location in Oklahoma City. The debut of the avid hotel Brooklyn-Dyker Heights is evidence of our brand’s commitment to expanding its market share in the Americas.

It made sense for us to build a hotel in one of the most visited states and cities in the world because we created this brand to satisfy the demands of our visitors who are looking for the essentials done extremely well at a reasonable price and in convenient locations.
