Your next golf adventure is closer than you might expect, being only 3 km from Umhlanga, 15 km from Durban, and 35 km from Durban International Airport in KwaZulu Natal. The Mount Edgecombe Country Club offers world-class meeting facilities, exotic restaurants, professional golf instruction, practice areas, and tennis, squash, and bowling clubs, all tucked away in the KwaZulu Natal hills just inland of Umhlanga.
Two championship courses make up Mount Edgecombe Country Club: Mount Edgecombe One and Mount Edgecombe Two. Each of these courses has a clubhouse. Hugh Baiocchi redesigned Mount Edgecombe’s Course One, previously the Hullets Country Club, to include a residential estate amid a landscape that is kept in pristine condition. One of the few USGA-compliant courses in South Africa is this one.
The Pani Dam is seen from the Club House on Mount Edgecombe Two, where if you’re lucky you might see some of the local fish eagles. The course contains native bush in some spots and is fairly undulating, unlike the No. 1 course. It also has its fair share of intimidating water hazards.
