Donations from several of the industry’s biggest names and brands, the New York-based manufacturing fashion company Resonance has proposed a new fund dedicated to supporting Black designers in the United States. According to the company’s Instagram post below, the initiative – dubbed Be Resonant – will provide 10 creators of color a total of $50,000 USD each, to help them establish their own brand by this August.
According to Resonance, designers can start submitting their application online for Be Resonant on June 8 and the 10 winning designers will be selected by the end of June and the program will officially commence on July 1. “This is a crisis and opportunity,” said Lawrence Lenihan, Resonance’s Chairman and Co-Founder.
