Kolmanskop is an old, abandoned desolate town. It is located 10km inland from the port town of Luderitz. This eerie town is the remnants of a once rich vibrant area. Kolmanskop was considered one of the richest towns in the Southwest African region. With its abundance in a diamond. Many prospectors and wide-eyed miners came here to make money from its rich diamond laden lands.
After a while, the diamond reserve began to diminish and this forced the town folk to migrate elsewhere for better prospects. Some decades passed, and it was gradually overrun by the sands from the desert. It was finally abandoned in 1956. They covered most of the town and left it deserted.
