So I decided to board a funeral bus so that I could tell my friends that I had previously visited the Volta Region. I now realize what I was missing after my epic road journey to Volta Region as a travel blogger!

Fort Prinzenstein is a slave trade post erected by the Danes on the then-Gold Coast for the purposes of commerce around the African coasts.

The fort is one of the four principal constructions that the Danish erected. This fort had a crucial role in the slave trade in West Africa, which featured Europeans. It’s built directly next to the sea in Keta, and it serves as a transit hub and final stop for slaves before being taken to the Americas and the Caribbeans.

Amedzofe Canopy Walkway

The Amedzofe Canopy Walkway is one of the newest tourist attractions in the Volta Region, designed to provide adventure and enjoyment for families and friends.

If you’re looking for a fun and exciting way to discover the Volta Region, go to the Amedzofe Canopy Walkway since you’ll be slaying two birds with one stone. Amedzofe is located in the Volta Region’s Ho West District. According to history, this is Ghana’s highest human habitation, and the locals are quite welcoming to visitors.

Wli Waterfall

According to archaeologists’ previous study, the Wli Waterfall is the highest waterfall in Ghana and the tallest in all of West Africa.

Tourists should be aware that this is a location that should be included in their itinerary. The fall includes both a lower and upper deck, making it quite appealing to anyone’s eyes.

Mount Afadja

Afadzato is the name given to Mount Afadja by the Ewe people. In this article, the term “Ewes” refers to people from the Volta Region and Togo, with whom they share a border to the east of Ghana.

Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary

Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary is a monkey hamlet where you can interact with a variety of wild but playful monkeys for entertainment purposes.

The sanctuary is a community-based ecotourism project that houses Mona and Patas monkeys. It was founded in 1993 under the guidance of a Peace Corps Volunteer as a community-based ecotourism initiative.

It is located in Ghana’s Volta region, some 230 kilometres northeast of Accra and 43 kilometres south of Hohoe. The monkey sanctuary is one of the top tourist sites in the Volta Region.

Tagbo Falls

Tagbo Falls is a waterfall in Ghana near Mount Afadjato, located at Liati Wote, some 27 kilometres east of the Hohoe settlement. The water falls in various phases, the last of which is roughly 60 meters high. The location is encircled by woodland.

Atorkor Slave Market

Atorkor was a major slave market during the slave trade’s heyday. As a result, a memorial was built in one of Keta’s renowned technical institutions to commemorate the slaves’ arduous journey.

The memorial that wraps around the walls serves as a harsh reminder of how leaders were duped and bribed into allowing foreigners to steal slaves from their nations.

Kyabobo National Park

Ghana’s National Park (pronounced CHAY-a-bobo) is a new eco-tourism attraction. The Kyabobo National Park, which covers 220 square kilometres and is widely famous for its beautiful vistas and well-protected wildness, is a rare highland conservation region with breathtaking views and well-protected wildness. Kyabobo is in the Nkwanta district of the northern Volta region, on the border with Togo. The closest town is Nkwanta.

The reserve was established in 1997. Within the park, travellers can see Mount Dzebobo, Ghana’s second-highest mountain, which offers a breathtaking perspective of Lake Volta.

The park lies in a semi-arid zone between tropical rainforest and tree savanna. The park contains plants and animals from both the forest and the savannah. Its woodlands are home to Talbotiella genetic, a nationally endangered endemic tree.

The park’s wildlife includes buffalo, kob, warthog, Aardvark, bushbuck, duikers, and baboons. Among the endangered species are lions, elephants, bongos, reedbucks, leopards, and hartebeests. There are at least 500 butterfly species and 235 bird species, according to a park evaluation. The park offers challenging multi-day hikes through hilly terrain, as well as mountain biking, wildlife viewing hides, shrines, and holy groves, and an interesting cultural experience.

Cape St. Paul Lighthouse
