The Umbrella Rock is one of the Eastern Region’s most popular tourist destinations. The strange rock can be found in the Koforidua Township in the Yilo Krobo District.
Because the rock is located near the Boti Falls, travellers who visit the Boti Falls frequently take advantage of the opportunity to go closer to the rock and experience the wonders of nature.
Why Is The Umbrella Rock Famous?
The Umbrella Rock is not like the ordinary rocks that we see on mountains and in valleys every day. The rock’s shape is stunning, with one enormous surface rock resting gently on a smaller, more delicate rock, giving an umbrella-like structure.
About fifteen to twenty persons can comfortably take refuge beneath the enigmatic rock, which will keep them dry and safe from rain and sunlight.
The Rock, which is thought to be centuries old, continues to astound tourists who cannot comprehend how a very huge surface rock in the shape of an umbrella could sit atop a tiny small rock for aeons without falling or the smaller rock wearing away to allow a fall.
According to Yilo Krobo residents, the rock was discovered by a hunter many decades ago while hunting in the bush. Later, the hunter returned to town to lead his folks to the odd rock. Since then, the Rock has grown in popularity as a popular tourist destination in the Eastern Region.
