Germany Issued More Than 71,100 Spouse Reunification Visas Last Year

The visa departments of foreign missions issued one of the greatest numbers of visas for spouse reunion last year, according to German officials. According to the German Federal Foreign Office, 71,129 visas for spouse reunification were issued to foreigners in total in 2022, an increase from the year before.

According to data, Indians received the most visas for spouse reunion in 2022 of any nationality. Last year, Germany issued spouse reunification visas to 8,930 Indian nationals, the majority of which were issued by the German Consulate General in Bangalore.

Germany issued the second-most spouse reunification visas to Turkish nationals last year. 8,778 Turkish nationals received spouse reunification visas in total in 2022. The majority of these visas were issued by the German embassies in Istanbul and Ankara.

In addition, many spouse reunification visas were also granted to Lebanese nationals. Germany issued Lebanese nationals a total of 5,008 spouse reunification visas in 2022.

In addition to the nations listed above, Germany issued a significant number of spouse reunification visas to residents of Iran, Kosovo, and Russia.

Russians received 4,981 spouse reunification visas overall in 2022, Kosovars received 4,643 spouse reunification visas, and Iranians received 4,161 spouse reunification visas.

In 2022, Germany also issued a sizable number of additional visas. Germany issued 393,083 national visas last year after processing 1,490,473 visa requests.

“In 2022, 393,083 national visas were issued (compared to 304,773 in 2021). There were 444,154 national visa applications processed in total. According to the German Federal Foreign Office’s announcement, “In 2022, the number of processed applications climbed not just by an additional 27% from the prior year.

The majority of national visas were issued for employment-related reasons. In total, Germany issued 152,336 work visas in the previous year. Indians, Turks, Serbs, Bosnians, Kosovars, Russians, and Albanians received the most work permits overall.

In addition, a significant number of visas were provided for academic pursuits. In 2022, Germany issued 71,018 national study visas, with students from China, India, and Turkey receiving the majority of these.
