Higgovale, City Bowl – Cape Town Places

Higgovale is one of those lovely suburbs that, in addition to being well-liked, affluent, tasteful, and dignified, also has some of the most spectacular views from its location on Table Mountain’s slopes. It has lovely little roads that run at an angle to one another in an effort to climb the steep slopes on which many of the homes in this area are situated. Finding your way through this verdant and leafy neighbourhood becomes a bit of an adventure, especially when you see the city council garbage truck coming down the hill as you are climbing a particularly steep incline.

Despite being so high above the city, if your brakes are in good shape, entering the city’s centre only requires putting the car in neutral. Table Mountain National Park is literally at residents’ doorsteps, providing easy access to nature and residents with the best of both worlds. You are also only a few minutes away from Kloof Street and its numerous bistros and quirky shops.

A former shooting range, Higgovale Quarry is somewhat unknown outside of the climbing community. It is located just beyond Molteno Reservoir and offers some excellent bolted slab/face climbs. Life is calm and quiets up here on the hills, and on a good day, most homes have views over the city, Table Bay, and virtually the entire mountain to Hout Bay.

The V&A Waterfront is not only visible from this area of the city, but is also easily accessible from here. It takes only ten minutes to get to the Atlantic beaches.
