LEVEL to launch Barcelona-Miami service

Miami will be LEVEL’s fifth US destination, with flights beginning there in 2019.

Beginning on March 31, 2024, the low-cost division of International Airlines Group (IAG) will run three flights each week between Barcelona and Miami International Airport.

To accommodate the expanded service, the carrier will lease a sixth A330-200 aircraft with a 314-seat configuration.

The new route will complement LEVEL’s current seasonal flights from the US to Boston, Los Angeles, New York JFK, and San Francisco.

In 2017, IAG introduced LEVEL, with the first service departing from Barcelona to Los Angeles, Oakland International, Punta Cana, and Buenos Aires.

Willie Walsh, the former CEO of IAG, stated that other European sites were being looked into at the time, but expansion has been delayed in part because of the COVID-19 outbreak.

In 2018, a Vienna-based short-haul spin-off was established; however, it ceased operations in the summer of 2020.

LEVEL presently offers flights to Buenos Aires and Santiago outside of the US.

Luca Adrover, LEVEL’s chief commercial officer, responded to the news by saying:

Today is a crucial day for the business since LEVEL is taking a big step toward fulfilling its ambition to connect Barcelona with far-flung locations in America by announcing the addition of a sixth aircraft and the new Barcelona-Miami route. To provide our customers with a more comprehensive and durable product, we broadened our offering.

The news comes after the beginning this month of Norse Atlantic services between Gatwick and Miami International, which will be followed in December by flights from Berlin and Paris.
