Roots Restaurant & Gallery, Soweto – Johannesburg

Roots restaurant & Gallery, a restaurant with 100 seats, draws both locals and visitors since it not only offers authentic township cuisine but also has a special atmosphere that honours Soweto life. Ivy League Steak, Model C Sticky Wings, and Shisa Nyama Platter are just a few of the intriguing names and backstories for each dish on the menu. Despite being primarily a restaurant, the area next door also contains an art gallery. Local artists’ works and handcrafted wares are displayed in the gallery.

Take the M1 South and the Soweto exit. You should then be on Old Potchefstroom Road. Pass 13 robots and turn right into Roodeport Road. At the second robot (with the Engen garage on the left), turn left into Dimakatso Street. The restaurant is located across from Morris Isaacson High School on the left.
