The popularity of pan-Asian food is undeniable. There is food for everyone, whether it be Wagamama in a Heathrow terminal or street food in Thailand. To close this gap, XO Restaurant has stormed into Accra, and it has done so with style. It is situated in One Airport Square, a place well renowned for its upscale cuisine and home to the excellent Cafe Kwae. It’s a dimly lit, cosy space with calming wood and stone tones that mostly draws inspiration from Japan and it’s one of the best restaurants in Accra now.
However, the menu looks toward the Far East. Starters alone include calamari with Thai sweet chilli sauce, Vietnamese shrimp crispy rolls, and Chinese tofu in an Asian sauce. Thai green curry and a wonderful baked sole fillet with black beans and ginger are among the lavishly prepared main courses. Given that Chris Beaney is in charge of them, the cocktails are without a doubt among the best in Ghana. Beautifully presented in a teapot, Journey to the West is a vodka infused with lapsang souchong that also contains creme de Peche, ginseng, honey, and lemon. It is a very welcome addition to Accra’s eating scene. Good cuisine that was expertly prepared.
