Little Havana
The inviting Little Havana restaurant and bar features top-notch rum drinks and Cuban-style decor. Marcus Morgan-Etty, the creator and designer of Little Havana restaurant and bar (of Santoku, The View, and Burger & Relish fame), has preserved the building’s original wooden shutters and art deco detailing and added opulent chandeliers, charming vintage furniture, and vibrant eclectic décor to evoke the opulent days of the Cuban capital’s pre-revolutionary era. This hip new eatery provides a mouthwatering meal together with energetic Latino and Afro-Cuban music, perfectly crafted premium rum beverages, and vivacious service. These elements work together to produce a fresh and sincere alternative to Accra’s upscale high-end social scene.
As he works in the kitchen to make a Cuban sandwich, Marcus enthuses, “Latino food is exploding with flavour and fresh ingredients, and has very strong crossovers with Ghanaian foods.” Marcus looks a lot like Jon Favreau’s star from the 2014 movie “Chef.” Although I purchased everything in Ghana from local sellers, I was inspired by traditional Cuban and Latin American meals and ingredients for the Little Havana menu.
The Vine Lounge
Since its opening in September of last year at the Best Western Premier Accra hotel in Airport Residential, The Vine Lounge Accra has been a sensation. The lounge offers a variety of brunch-themed dishes, beverages, and activities. Brunch is currently the most popular type of cuisine. When you enter the basement of the Best Western, you’ll find a spacious, open area that’s bright, green, and modern with nooks for more intimate breakfasts and larger lounge tables for parties. One of Accra’s top hotel restaurants is this one.
The brunch menu includes waffles, pancakes, pastries, eggs, bacon, sausages, and french toast. The lunch and dinner menu is also expanding, and in addition to light bites like calamari, prawns, and salads, it soon will feature a new, complicated cuisine. This adorable café, which is appropriately called “small,” is cosy and cannot accommodate a large audience. The seating arrangement is extremely cosy, and the air is filled with the mouthwatering aroma of pastries, which adds to the cosy atmosphere. Not only is the lighting mild, but the decor also has marble, pastel colours, and minimalist wall art.
POMONA
In this restaurant, there are plants everywhere—hanging from the ceiling, growing on the walls, and standing in pots. Food on the menu costs between 20 and 150 GHC, which is a reasonable price range. The cuisine is not Ghanaian and includes items like burgers, seafood spaghetti, and salmon crêpe. Additionally, they offer coffee of their very own brand. Ghana is the place where Jamestown Coffee Roasters are produced. It’s nice to visit their café, drink a cup, and even buy your own bag to take home. I’ve started buying their bagged coffee at the grocery store already. If you wish, they will grind the fresh beans they sell for you.
La Borracha
La Borracha, a Mexican-inspired cantina that opened in Ghana’s capital in 2021, is known for its fresh margaritas. The club is divided into three distinct areas: The Restaurant, The Library, and The Terrace. While each has its own unique vibe, the drink menu is streamlined but potent. The second part features innovative drinks like the Kandanka Sour, which is prepared with Blanco tequila, mandarin, dragon fruit, and lavender, or the Akwasi, which combines gin, cucumber, moringa, dandelion, and lemongrass. One section is devoted to artists.
