About Accra New Town – Cities In Accra

Accra New Town is a town in the Accra Metropolitan district, a district of the Greater Accra Region of Ghana. Accra New Town is situated north of Kokomlemle, and west of Nima. Accra New Town, which is close to the communities of Nima and Kotobabi, has a long history of being associated with crime, thuggery, and the printing industry. Even while the reputation may have once been merited, visiting Newtown is now more than safe.

One of the more ethnically varied areas in the city is Newtown. The languages spoken here include Hausa, Twi, Fante, Ewe, Ga, and even Fula. Mosques and churches coexist in this area, and on Sundays, it’s not unusual to witness a priest leading a Christian marching band past a Hausa wedding.

As a result of the sizable Nigerian Hausa population in Newtown, you can eat food from all of Ghana’s diverse areas, including the north, and you can even discover some well-travelled specialities from Nigeria. On Accra New Town Road, the majority of the run-down eateries serve wonderful food.

The boutiques, tiny movie theatres, and CD stores fill the tiny side streets to the brim. Take a leisurely stroll while stopping to chat with the different sellers if you have an afternoon to yourself.

It may not seem like much when you first see Newtown. If you only wade in a little, you’ll probably believe it’s just another congested Accra area. But if you can see past the surface, you’ll soon see that it’s one of the city’s most intriguing neighbourhoods, one that is definitely worthwhile investigating in depth!
