Saunders Rock Beach, named after the massive granite rocks that dominate this largely wind-free beach in Cape Town and are only a short distance from Sea Point on the route to Camps Bay, is perfect for those staying in the lovely Bantry Bay neighbourhood. As the final beach in Water Point, it is still central and accessible for people who want a day of sunlight, sand, and sea without travelling too far from the city centre’s facilities.
Saunders’ Beach is a reasonably well-liked beach that isn’t extremely busy, making it a nice option for families or couples looking for some peace and quiet. Weekends and holidays can, of course, get a little busier. As they are home to a surprising quantity of marine life, the rock pools and gullies are fantastic places for young children and curious older children to explore. Due to the absence of rip currents and pounding waves, the small tidal pool is a fantastic (and safer) place to go swimming.
Saunders Rock Beach has a unique personality thanks to the rocky outcrops that dot the beach’s lovely white sand. But dedicated sunbathers may always locate a peaceful area to get bronzed.
The sunsets are extremely wonderful, and the ocean views are breathtaking. So even a romantic picnic or some me-time can be had here (best enjoyed with a good book).
Saunders’ Rocks Beach has close parking, restrooms, and showers. The City Bowl of Cape Town, the V&A Waterfront, and the CTICC can all be reached quickly from Sea Point and Bantry Bay.
