About Yzerfontein, Cape West Coast – South Africa

On the R27, 80 kilometres north of Cape Town, in the peaceful seaside community of Yzerfontein, the stunning Cape West Coast Region officially begins. The unspoiled coastline of Yzerfontein features both rocky and sandy beaches, including the well-known sixteen-mile beach that reaches the Postberg Nature Reserve inside the West Coast National Park. The natural splendour, length of beach, and serenity of Yzerfontein are well-known.

Year-round sunshine, with warm winters that rarely see daytime highs below 10 degrees Celsius. The small craft harbour, well known for its snoek and crayfish, is an angler’s paradise. Approximately 60% of all line fish captured on the West Coast are landed here, bringing in money for the locals.

Yzerfontein, which has a ton of guesthouses and flats with sea views, makes it simple to find overnight lodging on the Cape West Coast.

Enjoy water sports including skiing, sailing, surfing, and angling as well as hiking trails, mountain biking, whale and dolphin watching, bird watching, scenic drives, and day trips. Long walks along the beach to see whales, coastal birds, and plants, fields of wildflowers in the spring, and trips to the West Coast National Park are all available in Yzerfontein.

Yzerfontein’s wildlife reserves are home to a variety of animals, including eland, bontebok, springbok, steenbok, kudu, duiker, Cape mountain zebra, caracal, African wild cat, and bat-eared fox.
