Brief History of Adidas Brand

In Herzogenaurach, Germany, a multinational company called Adidas AG was established in 1924. The business creates and produces footwear, apparel, and accessories. It is currently the second-biggest sportswear producer in the world and the largest in Europe.

Adolf “Adi” Dassler, who began producing athletic shoes in his mother’s home, started Adidas AG. After his older brother, Rudolf joined the business in 1924, it later became known as the Dassler Brothers Shoe Factory.

After being worn by American sprinter Jesse Owens at the 1936 Summer Olympics, Dassler shoes acquired popularity. Due to Owens’ Olympic triumph, Dassler shoes gained a reputation as the best for athletes.

The brother broke up in 1947. Rudolf later established a new company called Ruda, which was renamed Puma after Dassler formally registered Adidas AG.

In order to promote their popularity and maintain an advantage over one another, the two businesses developed into business rivals and encouraged other athletes to wear their shoes.

Adidas AG was sold to Robert Louis-Dreyfus, its CEO, in the year 2000. (since 1994). Louis-Dreyfus doubled the earnings between 1993 and 2000 when he resigned as the position’s leader.

Adidas unveiled the Adidas 1, branded “The World’s First Intelligent Shoe,” five years later. A microprocessor that can complete 5 million calculations per second is built inside the shoe. These computations automatically changed the cushioning of the shoe to match its surroundings.

A small, user-replaceable battery inside the shoe provided power for around 100 hours of running. Late in 2005, it unveiled a brand-new Adidas 1 model with a number of noteworthy improvements.

Adidas acquired Reebok in 2006, moving up to the position of second-largest athletic shoe manufacturer worldwide. Adidas announced an 11-year agreement to become the official NBA sportswear supplier in the same year.
