Well, I can’t assure you it’s safe, just like anywhere abroad. Ghana is among the few African countries that could control the spread of the virus very well. And with the right measure put in place, I can say Ghana is one of the best countries in African you can visit right now. 

The Government of Ghana also advises that all arrivals should have valid insurance. Is Ghana Border Open Now 

After the lockdown, The President of Ghana decided to reopen international flights in September 2020. However, he decided not to open land and sea borders, they still remain closed. Though international flights are operating, but all visitors must have proof of a negative Covid-19 test and also take a further test on arrival. 

Ghana Covid-19 Travel Requirement

These requirements are what the Ghana Airport Company Limited and National Heath Services are expecting from every traveler. The authorities in Ghana or Ghana Airport Company Limited are responsible for setting and enforcing the entry rules. If you’re unclear about any aspect of the entry requirements, or you need further reassurance, you’ll need to contact your embassy in this country.

Entry Requirements

Arriving at the Kotoka international airport, all passengers, including those from the ECOWAS region, will be required to meet all the health requirements before admission into the country. 

1. All passengers must not have symptoms suggestive of the COVID-19 virus including a body temperature of 30c 

2.Passengers must possess a COVID-19 negative PCR test from an accredited laboratory in the country of origin. The test should have been done not more than 72 hours before the scheduled departure time from the country of origin 

3. Airlines who board passengers without PCR test results or transport and disembark passengers with positive PCR test results into Accra will be fined US$3,500 per passenger 

Non-Ghanaians may be refused entry and returned to the point of embarkation at the cost to the Airline 

And Ghanaians will be allowed entry but subject to 14 days of mandatory quarantine at a designated facility. 

4.All Arriving passengers will undergo temperature screening. 

5.Ghanaian residents who travel outside Ghana and returning after a week or two will not be required to present a COVID-19 result from the country they visited. They will rather undergo mandatory COVID-19 testing upon arrival in Ghana

6. All passengers will be subjected to a mandatory COVID-19 test at the airport terminal at a cost to be borne by the passengers. 

Ghanaians and ECOWAS citizens will pay $50 per passenger and all other passengers will be $150. All results will be available after 30min. All the payments must be made online before boarding the flight to Ghana. 

After all the aviation process, passengers texted negative will be required to continuously adhere to all the safety protocols.
