Gorah’s 11 tented rooms provide a magnificent and romantic escape in the bushveld. These roomy suites, which include thatched canopies and are intended for the utmost comfort and perfection, are reminiscent of the early 1900s safari era.

Each opulent tent has a private terrace with breathtaking views of the huge savannah plains, an en-suite bathroom with a shower, and an interior rest area. In addition, the tents include internal communication systems that link them to the Main House, solar-powered lighting, and ceiling fans. It’s the ideal fusion of comfort and nostalgia, creating an unforgettable safari experience.

Facilities

Gorah House, an 1856 National Monument, offers a glimpse into the past with its meticulous restoration and elegant period furnishings. Guests can relax by original fireplaces, share adventure stories, and explore a small library. The wildlife around the waterhole provides constant fascination, while a natural rock swimming pool and scenic decks offer relaxation.

Gourmet cuisine is a highlight, served in dining rooms, on the verandah, or under the stars in an open boma. Gorah House combines historic charm, wildlife, and culinary delights for a memorable experience.

Activities

At Gorah, the recommended check-in time is around mid-day. Guests can indulge in a sumptuous buffet lunch served between 12:30 and 14:00, allowing ample time to settle into their luxurious tented suites and become acquainted with Gorah’s gracious amenities. High Tea is served at 16:00.

A Game Drive or Walk, guided by an experienced guide, is scheduled for 16:30. Before dinner, which is served between 19:30 and 20:00, guests can unwind with a pre-dinner drink on the verandah of Gorah House, taking in the sights, smells, and sounds of the African bush at twilight. The atmosphere is relaxed, and there’s no need to rush.

Guests are encouraged to seize the day with a discreet wake-up call at 07:00. Breakfast is served from 07:30 to 08:45, followed by the morning game drive or walk at 09:00. Additionally, day excursions to Addo Elephant Back Safaris for a walk with the elephants can be arranged to enhance the African safari experience. Enjoy your time in the wild!

Location And Attraction

Gorah is a prestigious safari lodge located in the heart of South Africa’s Addo Elephant Park. This 14,000-hectare park, established in 1931, was created to protect the last surviving elephants in the Eastern Cape. Over time, the elephant population has rebounded, making Addo home to the highest density of elephants on the planet.

The park also hosts other iconic wildlife like lions, rhinos, buffalos, and leopards, along with numerous antelope species and small game. Bird enthusiasts can enjoy spotting 320 recorded bird species. Gorah is unique as the first private concession within a South African National Park, offering visitors a luxurious way to experience the park’s natural beauty and diverse wildlife.
