Visitor’s Visa Type fees

PURPOSE OF A VISA

A visa only allows the holder to travel to a port of entry before or on the expiration date of the visa, where they must comply with the Republic of South Africa’s applicable laws, rules, and requirements. Prior to the issuance of the visa, no specific travel arrangements must be made, and the visa must be processed within 10 working days on average.

DURATION AND PURPOSE OF STAY

The applicant’s period of residence in the RSA shall be calculated from the date of admission to the Republic, taking into account any visa limitations. The visa will be treated as a visitor’s permission upon admission. Because renewals are subject to additional expenses, applicants must ensure that they seek the full period of their expected trips.
Any change in the purpose of stay will only be permitted in the RSA for good cause and if the Act’s conditions are met.

WARNING

Any applicant who is granted entry into South Africa as a result of a misrepresentation or false declaration on the application form, or who sojourns in the Republic in violation of his or her visa permit conditions, is guilty of an offence and subject to a fine or imprisonment as an illegal foreigner if convicted.

Visa Fees

The full applicable fee must be paid at the time of submission of a visa application. If the application is withdrawn or denied, the fee will not be refunded. The visa fee must be paid in cash in GHC, the local currency, at the current exchange rate. The fees for both Visa and VFS service fees are listed below.
Foreigners with diplomatic or service passports, as well as Indian nationals, are exempt from visa fees, but must pay the VFS service fee.

  • Visa fee GHC 136
  • VFS Service Charge GHC 315

Processing Time

Ten working days is the average processing time. If the application is incomplete or suspicious and requires more investigation, or if the application must be forwarded to the appropriate authorities for review, the evaluation could take weeks or even months. As a result, visa applicants are recommended to submit their applications at least four weeks in advance.

Please note that the South African High Commission has sole authority for the decision to grant or deny a visa application, as well as the visa turnaround time. Any refusal or delay in granting a visa is not the responsibility of VFS Global Ghana.

Study In South Africa Fees

Study permits are valid for the duration of the course for which they were issued, which is usually 36 months in schools and 24 months in other institutions.

You can apply for authorization to work for the purpose of gaining work experience as part of your studies for a diploma or degree if you have a study permit by submitting the following documents:

  • an offer to do practical training
  • consent from the educational institution
  • proof that you are still a registered student

The Department will grant you permission to participate in practical training as part of your studies if you are a registered student and your study permit is valid for the duration of the training session.
You may also work part-time for no more than 20 hours per week if you are a foreign student at a higher educational institution with a valid study permit. During academic vacations, however, you are not permitted to work.

The overriding consideration in processing applications for study permits are that:

  • No foreigner may displace a South African citizen/resident at a local educational institution
  • The student must have proof of sufficient funds to pay for day-to-day living expenses, accommodation as well as tuition fees during his/her stay in South Africa
  • The student must have adequate medical cover with a registered South African medical scheme and proof thereof
