Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park: Maintenance work taking place in two camps

The Mata Mata Rest Camp and Kalahari Tented Camp in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park are receiving critical maintenance, according to South African National Parks (SANParks). Work started on September 15, 2023, and is scheduled to last about three months. Genevieve Maasdorp, Regional Communications Manager: Arid Parks at South African National Parks (SANParks), says that work will involve, among other things, painting every roof of the lodging, replacing the walkways’ wood where necessary, and maintaining every piece of furniture. We will update you!

The Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park’s western border, where it meets Namibia, is marked by the Mata Mata Rest Camp, which is located on the banks of the Auob River. About 3 kilometers separate the Mata Mata Rest Camp from the Kalahari Tented Camp. It is perched on top of a red sand dune and has a commanding view of a waterhole in the dried-up Auob River’s bank.
