Noordhoek, Atlantic Seaboard – Cape Town

Noordhoek is a wonderful spot to stay in Cape Town’s city centre and adds to the beauty and variety of South African tourist experiences. Noordhoek, also known as the “northern corner” suburb, is fiercely protected by its inhabitants, who have largely maintained the delicate balance of agricultural, rural, and residential living that makes Noordhoek such a sought-after suburb today. The village’s origins are in the northern corner of the farm Slangkop.

Vegetables were traditionally delivered by farms in this area of Cape Town, which is about 25 minute drive from the city centre, to ships calling at Simon’s Town. Despite the fact that wine, organic vegetables, meat, and eggs are now supplied to the city’s expanding local farmers’ markets, farming and small holdings are still a significant element of Noordhoek’s charm. One of the few locations in the city where owls may still be heard hooting at night is Noordhoek, which is located on the Atlantic coast near the southern end of Chapman’s Peak Drive.

Long Beach, which spans nearly 8 km of wide, pristine beach that borders on wetlands and finally connects with Kommetjie, has attracted a mix of modest cottages and luxurious residences that offer inspiring vistas to visitors to Noordhoek. The dunes are a favourite spot for dogs and kids alike, and locals often ride their horses here.

From here, one may easily travel to Hout Bay (at the opposite end of Chapman’s Peak Drive), and Kommetjie, Scarborough, and Fish Hoek are nearby areas. In addition to offering a children’s play area, the neighbourhood Noordhoek Farm Village is an excellent spot to buy organic products.
