Scarborough, Atlantic Seaboard – Cape Town

Scarborough, which is located just beyond Kommetjie, is one of the few Cape Town suburbs that has managed to avoid becoming overrun by tourists despite being close to the city and experiencing a recent real estate boom that has sent the value of even Scarborough properties sky high. Scarborough is a conservation hamlet that resembles a random collection of residences and beachfront properties scattered over the craggy mountains of Slangkop and Red Hill, perched above the raging Atlantic. It is a haven for nature lovers, feels far from congested areas, and makes the crime of suburban life seem unimportant.

The community’s laid-back way of life is still there despite the addition of more affluent computer programmers and advertising executives to its self-employed musicians, writers, and artists. Scarborough is blessed with some of the best treasure collections of flora because it is near the Cape Point Nature Reserve, which prevents much future construction here.

The fact that Scarborough has some of the best surfing and fishing on the peninsula adds to the village’s rustic charm. In addition to being a top spot for body boarding, kite surfing, kayaking, windsurfing, and crayfishing, Scarborough’s coastline is home to some of the most breathtaking sunsets and lovely windswept walks.

There are a few restaurants and a tiny store here, although Simons Town is not far away. If you need to restock on supplies, Noordhoek and Fish Hoek are equally accessible in the opposite direction.
