What is Police Clearance Certificate
A police certificate is an official document provided by the Ghanaian police to determine whether or not the applicant has any outstanding criminal records or activities from the Criminal Data Services Bureau (CDSB) of the Ghanaian Police Criminal Investigations Department (CID). Arrests, convictions, and criminal prosecutions are all examples of criminal records. A police certificate is also known as a good citizen certificate, good conduct certificate, police clearance certificate, or judicial records.
How to get Police Clearance Certificate in Ghana
The Police Report is issued in the Police Headquarters in Accra, however it can be requested at any of the Ghana Police Service’s regional headquarters. The report takes ten working days to be issued by the authorities. People applying from outside of Accra may face some delays because their applications are not transferred to Accra for processing right away.
Cost of Police Clearance Certificate in Ghana
Residents: GHS120.00.
Non-residents: US$120.00.
The applicant’s latest entry date in Ghana decides whether he or she is a resident or a non-resident. If the latest arrival date was more than three months ago, the person is considered a resident and must pay GHC120.
If the applicant’s most recent entry date is less than 3 months at the time of application, he or she is considered a non-resident and must pay $120 USD.

Validity of Ghana Police Clearance Certificate
The validity of a police report is six months from the date of issue. The certificate isn’t resuscitated. If a certificate expires, a new one must be obtained.
Can someone apply on my behalf?
-If you live in Ghana, no, because you must apply in person.
-If you are a non-resident, yes. In this situation, a fee of $120 USD is charged. In addition, the individual applying on behalf of a non-resident must give his or her own passport photo and personal information.

- If you have been sentenced to 12 months or more in prison, or multiple sentences that add up to more than 12 months in prison. A suspended sentence is considered a prison sentence.
- You have been convicted of escaping from immigration detention in another country
- you are or have been a member of a group or organization or have an association with a person, group or organization that are suspected of involvement in criminal conduct
- If you’re a suspect of being involved in people smuggling, people trafficking, genocide, a war crime, a crime against humanity, a crime involving torture or slavery, or a crime that is of serious international concern
- Your past and present criminal or general conduct shows that you are not of good character
- If it has been determined that you posed a security risk to another person in the form of stalking, physical or sexual abuse
- You are subject to an adverse security assessment by the Ghanaian Government
