Queen’s Beach – Cape Town Beaches

In addition to a large number of vacation rentals and hotels, Sea Point is also home to some gorgeous beaches. Queen’s Beach is undoubtedly one of the area’s most well-known beaches, and both locals and visitors go there to read a good book and work on their tans.

It is rather far from the Sea Point promenade, where people prefer to stroll, jog, rollerblade, and push strollers, because of its special location. Due to its location, Queen’s Beach is also reasonably wind-sheltered, making it a peaceful getaway even on windy days when other beaches are uncomfortable.

On a steamy summer day, the cool waters of the Western Cape offer a welcome relief, and Queen’s Beach has a shallow gully that is suitable for swimming. Bigger, messier wave fans also travel to Queen’s for some fun rides. Little ones can find and gather lovely shells, and curious explorers really like exploring the rocks and rock pools. The amenities at Queen’s Beach include free parking and restrooms. There aren’t any lifeguards on duty here, but there aren’t many rips and currents either.

Many of the lodging options, boutiques, shops, and restaurants in Sea Point are only a short stroll away. The V&A Waterfront, Table Mountain, the City Bowl, Bo-Kaap, and the CTICC are all easily accessible by car from Queen’s Beach. It takes about 30 minutes to drive to Cape Town International Airport, and it takes about an hour to get to Stellenbosch in the Cape Winelands.
