Namibia is a country quite popular for the tourist attractions that abound in the country. Every city in the country is known for one attraction or another. Namibia has 13 cities in total. Each of them is unique and they offer visitors the chance to experience nature and the Namibian culture. Four of the most popular cities in Namibia you should consider visiting are Windhoek, Swakopmund, Walvis Bay, and Tsumeb. These cities are beguiling, with their captivating attractions like the dunes of the desert, game reserves, and national parks.

1.Windhoek

The capital city of Namibia is a gem that captures beauty in every aspect of the word. It is the center of government of Namibia and it has beautiful attractions that are worthy of note. This city is located smack right in the center of Namibia. It can also be found in the Khomas Highlands of Namibia. This historical capital has many attractions, castles, the National Museum of Namibia, the national art gallery, etc.

2.Swakopmund

This popular ‘sea town’ is considered by many as one of the best places for visitors when exploring Namibia. It is a city in its own right with a beautiful beach, stunning European architecture, and some spectacular sites like the Damara tower, museums, and the gateway to other treasures like the dunes. Swakopmund is also sandwiched between the Namibia desert and the Atlantic Ocean, giving it a very arid cool climate. This city was established by the Germans in 1892. The city’s colonial landmarks include the Swakopmund Lighthouse and the Mole, an old sea wall. A small distance from the lighthouse, the Swakopmund Museum documents Namibian history.

3.Walvis Bay

Walvis Bay also called the Whale Bay by some people is a surreal city. The Herero people call the area Ezorongondo. The city was a strategic location for Europeans during the World War because of its large bay and natural deep-water harbor. The bay is a tranquil repose for sea vessels and home to some of the most beautiful marine life and plankton. Walvis Bay doesn’t only attract tourists to its shores but also Southern right whales that feed on the plankton. This city has hundreds of thousands of tourists visiting every year, some of the sites that attract such a horde include the dunes, the Bird Island, a museum, abundant birdlife and it’s long-standing history with colonial rule(German and British).

4.Tsumeb

Tsumeb has always been a popular destination for folks looking to delve into nature. It is called the ‘gateway to the north’ for good reason. It was once the home of the famous San(Bushmen) people who originally inhabited the city. Tsumeb is also a mining town and has deposits of over 200 different minerals, including copper, zinc, and lead. There are also several ethereal attractions like the Etosha National park and luxurious resorts. The Etosha National park is one of the largest land reserves in the world. Several different species of wildlife make their home here. The endangered white rhinoceros can also be found here. Folks searching for a safari with great lodging are always swept away by Tsumeb.
