University of Oulu Masters Scholarships 2023/2024 for International Students

International students with exceptional academic ability are eligible for scholarships from the University of Oulu in Finland. The tuition fee must be paid by students who are not citizens of an EU/EEA member state. Students who begin English-taught Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs on or after August 1, 2018, and who are not citizens of an EU/EEA country or Switzerland, are subject to the tuition costs. Because it is an academic fee, the tuition fee pays for tuition. The cost of living, including lodging, food, and transportation, is not included in the tuition. Every student is forced to cover their living expenses independently.

International students with academic talent may apply for scholarships through the University of Oulu International Scholarship Scheme to study for a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree there. The scholarships will be awarded as a tuition fee waiver that will cover 50%, 75%, or 100% of the total tuition. As part of the admissions procedure, candidates can submit an application for the tuition scholarship. The University of Oulu does not provide funding for living expenses.

About Award

The Finland scholarships are intended for students enrolled in the two-year international master’s programs at the University of Oulu. The scholarship pays the entire cost of foreign tuition for one academic year. A student must have 55 ECTS completed by the end of the preceding academic year in order to keep their scholarship for the following academic year. Students who do not meet this condition must pay the full foreign tuition charge in order to finish their Master’s degree program. If a student has been given permission to take a study break, this rule may be exempted.

Eligibility Requirements to Apply for International Scholarship

If applicants complete the requirements for admission and are responsible for paying the tuition, they may apply for a University of Oulu Scholarship for the academic year 2021–2022. Only if the applicant complies with the admissions requirements will the scholarship application be processed. The University of Oulu Scholarship is only available once.

Citizens of EU/EEA countries or Switzerland

The University of Oulu does not charge tuition for students enrolled in its international bachelor’s and master’s programs who are citizens of the European Union (EU), European Economic Area (EEA), or Switzerland.

Citizens of non-EU/EEA countries

Students who are not citizens of an EU/EEA member state or Switzerland are liable to pay the tuition fee.

Exceptions to this general rule are students who

  • are equivalent to an EU citizen (i.e. citizen of Switzerland)
  • have a continuous or permanent residence permit card in Finland (type A or P permit)
  • have an EU residence permit for third-country citizens with long-term residence permit card in Finland (type P-EU permit)

  • have an EU blue card in Finland
