Wli Water Falls
Visiting the Wli Waterfalls was an incredible experience that left me in awe of the natural beauty of Ghana. As I hiked through the lush forest, the sound of rushing water grew louder and more intense until I finally reached the base of the falls. The sight of the cascading water was breathtaking, and I felt a sense of peace and tranquillity wash over me. But then don’t forget your swim or bikini wear as you are going to enjoy swinging here and taking some Instagrammable pictures.
Not only does it claim the title of the highest waterfall in Ghana, but Wli Waterfalls also stands as the tallest in all of West Africa. Situated in the Volta region, in close proximity to the border with Togo, this area boasts exceptional natural beauty and ranks among the top tourist destinations in Ghana’s Eastern Region.
Visitors to Wli Falls have a multitude of activities to choose from, including hiking. You can opt for leisurely strolls along flat trails or embark on the more demanding and steep routes leading to the upper falls (we highly recommend hiring a guided hiking tour for this adventure).
While Wli Falls can be visited throughout the year, the ideal time for a visit is from April to October, during the rainy season. This is when you can witness the waterfall at its most majestic, with the thunderous rush of water at its peak.

There are plenty of recreational opportunities in the garden, including swings, slides, a jungle gym, suspension bridges, and structures for rope climbing. In addition, kayaking and a canopy walk are available. The garden is arguably one of the best gardens to visit in Ghana.
Shai Hills Resource Reserve
The Shai Hills Resource Reserve is a protected area situated in Doryumu within the Shai Osudoku District of the Greater Accra Region. Originally designated as a Forest Reserve in 1962, it encompassed 47 square kilometres (4,700 hectares; 18 square miles), later expanded to 51 square kilometers (5,100 hectares; 20 square miles) in 1973. In 1971, it was reclassified as a Game Production Reserve.
This preserved region was once the ancestral homeland of the Shai people until their displacement by the British in 1892. Evidence of the Shai people’s heritage can still be found within the reserve. The landscape is a patchwork of forests covering five distinct hills, with grasslands and dry forests filling the spaces between canyons. The Shai Hills Resource Reserve is home to a diverse array of wildlife, including baboons, green monkeys, antelopes, zebras, various mammals, reptiles, and a remarkable count of over 172 bird species. The view is amazing and breathtaking from the main rock where most tourist take amazing pictures for their social media feeds.
Boabeng Fiema Monkey Sanctuary
Across generations, the villagers of Boabeng and Fiema have held a deep-rooted belief in the sanctity of their local monkey population, and they have long forbidden any harm to come to these creatures. These neighboring communities have joined forces to establish a forest sanctuary dedicated to safeguarding the black silky colobus and brown mona monkeys, both of which offer a captivating spectacle to behold. A visit to the Monkey Sanctuary in Fiema, located 22 kilometers to the north of Nkoranza, promises an exceptional day trip.
The monkeys enjoy unrestricted access to all corners of the village, and the local residents plant fruit trees to provide for them. In the event of a monkey’s passing, it is accorded the honor of being laid to rest in a specially designed coffin, with unique funeral ceremonies held in its remembrance. Boti Falls

Boti Falls has a significant place in Ghana’s heritage. According to historical accounts, Boti Falls consists of twin waterfalls, symbolizing both the male and female elements, representing the upper and lower cascades. The fall is one of the best waterfalls in Ghana you should visit.
According to local beliefs, when the water volume surges, the two falls are thought to engage in a mating ritual, leading to the organization of a special ceremony. This celebration often coincides with the appearance of a vibrant rainbow, a spectacle created by the continuous splashing of water.
Okomfo Anokye Sword Site
Okomfo Anokye holds a prominent position in the annals of the Ashanti Kingdom’s history. As the Kingdom’s inaugural priest, he played a pivotal role in its expansion and triumph over adversaries.
Approximately three centuries ago, just before his passing, Okomfo Anokye planted his sword firmly into the ground, declaring that it would remain immovable. Remarkably, to this day, despite numerous efforts, no one has succeeded in extracting it. For tourists visiting Kumasi, this site is a must-visit, providing a fascinating glimpse into the origins of the Ashanti Kingdom.

Established in March 1890, these gardens are situated in the town of Aburi, earning their name from this location, which is approximately 30 kilometers to the north of Accra, in Ghana’s Eastern Region. The gardens encompass a total area of 160 acres, with 157 acres meticulously preserved and 3 acres dedicated to essential infrastructure development.
A trip to the Aburi Gardens offers a serene escape from the stresses of daily life. Located just a convenient 45-minute drive from Accra, it provides an ideal destination for a family picnic, allowing you to revel in the gifts of nature and unwind. Kintampo Falls

Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park and Mausoleum
A prominent and widely recognized tourist attraction in Ghana and its regions is the park and mausoleum constructed to honor the legacy of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. Dr Nkrumah stands as a pivotal figure in Ghana’s history, holding sole responsibility for leading the nation to its independence from British colonial rule. His crucial role in Ghana’s path to independence culminated in the nation’s historic achievement on March 6, 1957.
Ussher Fort Museum
The Dutch originally constructed Ussher Fort in Accra in 1649, known previously as Fort Crèvecœur. It was one of three forts erected by European powers for trade in the 17th century.
Subsequently, the fort was transferred to the British administration and renamed Ussher Fort in honor of the British Administrator who played a pivotal role in the Exchange of Territories between the two nations during that period. Ussher Fort stands in proximity to James Fort, approximately 500 meters away, both situated in Accra. For many years, Ussher Fort served as a place of confinement for enslaved individuals until 1993.
Today, the fort has been repurposed as a museum and serves as the headquarters for the Ghana Museums and Monuments Board. It welcomes visitors from Monday to Saturday, operating from 9 am to 4:30 pm.
Notably, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana’s first president, was once held captive within these walls before leading the country to independence. Tourists visit the fort to gain insight into the experiences of this globally revered leader during his time of imprisonment.
Kumasi Zoological Gardens
Established in 1951, this zoo encompasses an area of 1.5 square kilometers and is conveniently situated between the former Kumasi racecourse and the Kumasi Centre for National Culture.
