Amedzofe township is a popular town in the Volta region, situated in the newly formed Ho-west District Assembly to the north of the regional capital. Amedzofe is one of the few volta regional towns that saw growth early in its history, with German missionaries settling in the area constructing school buildings as early as the late 1800s.
When Europeans flooded Ghana in the 1800s for a variety of reasons, including trading and missionary work, the Germans chose to settle in the then-unknown and relatively obscure township of Amedzofe because of its cool and humid climate, which contrasted with the hostile tropical and warm weather in other parts of the country.
The Germans referred to Amedzofe as their national headquarters, describing it as a “home away from home” for all German officials, traders, and missionaries.
The Germans are thought to have spent more than sixty years in Amedzofe, with official documents stating that they arrived in 1842 and that by the time they left in the early 1900s, they had built a lot of basic infrastructure such as schools and other buildings that could be used for various purposes.
The German Missions School, which was erected by the Germans, is now known as the Amedzofe EP Training College, having been changed from a basic school to a teacher training institution long after the Germans had left.

In addition, the Amedzofe Township is home to a number of tourist attractions that have proven to be extremely beneficial to the town and district as a whole in terms of revenue generating and job development.
1.Mount Gemi

Mountian Gemi is one of the popular tourist destinations in Ghana. It is located in the Town of Amedzofe with the highest human settlement of (2400ft )above sea level in Ghana. Mount Gemi has it hight at “777m” about sea level. If you are visiting Ghana, add mount Gemi to your bucket list.
2.Ote Waterfalls
If you visit Ote Falls during the rainy season, from May to August, you will have a memorable experience, since they are among Ghana’s most stunning waterfalls. This tourist attraction is located in Amedzofe township, Ghana. Before you reach the falls, be prepared to traverse a very steep downward slope. However, because of the gorgeous jungle scenery and the seductive voice of birds, you may miss the steep climb.
For those who enjoy swimming, there is also a small pool. When visiting Ghana’s beautiful waterfalls, it’s best to wear closed shoes or boots. It can also be a fantastic idea to bring food or drinks to the falls in order to relax and enjoy yourself even more.
