In KwaZulu Natal, the Bluff National Park Golf Club is located in a wetland conservation area.
The Fish Eagle flying above and lots of plovers, grey herons, and pelicans who drop in to share the water with the resident Cormorants and Geese are just a few of the bird species you may expect to see.
The Bluff National Park Golf Club is an 18-hole Championship golf course located in the heart of the park. The track is 10 kilometres south of Durban’s city centre. It boasts spacious fairways and is a demanding course, especially when the south-west wind blows. It is reputedly a rather flat course and a really enjoyable stroll.
Water plays a role on several holes, including the tough 17th, where a long tee shot is necessary to escape the water hazard down the left side of the fairway. Once you’re down the fairway, you’ll have to deal with the water once more.
The fact that play is open to the public will please visitors. To minimise disappointment, it is strongly advised that you secure your Durban accommodations and tee-off dates in advance. A clubhouse, bar, banqueting space, and halfway house are all available at Bluff National Park. Golf carts with motors can be rented, and caddies can be hired for a modest fee.
Founder Of Bluff National Park Golf Club
Mr. Lester Schoeman and Mr. Alan Barnard, along with a dedicated group of 14 founding members, worked together to develop a golf course plan. The vision and determination of these individuals, particularly Mr. Lester Schoeman, saw the first draught drawings for an 18-hole golf course constructed and conceived by Alan Barnard in 1978. Mr. Lester Schoeman spent many weekends mowing down overgrown grassy areas on the back of a tractor, only to return to his law office the following Monday.
Sponsored golf days at Umbogintwini Golf Club, as well as private raffles and fund raising events, were used to raise funds for this group of members.
