To be honest, if you about to explore the world, Ghana one of the beautiful countries in African you should visit. This is not because I’m from Ghana, but it is worth visiting if you want a great history and amazing adventure. Seeing a picture of Boti falls, you can judge.
Boti fall is one of the most visited waterfalls in Ghana and it is located in Boti. Boti is in the Manya Krobo District, the Eastern Region of Ghana. It is 70km northeast of Koforidua, the Eastern regional capital. The waterfall is about 30 kilometers drive from Koforidua.
Boti Falls is a double waterfall that falls side by side separated by a small rocky bored. Some call it twins, and are believe to be a male and a female, which the bigger side is the male and the other small fall is a female.
The Boti Falls is 30 meters high from the ground level. The waterfalls find its source from Ponmpon River which runs through the Huhunya forest reserve. The waterfall runs through the mountainous rock into a pool of water at the ground. Many locals swim in the pool of water on the ground.
According to oral history from the Boti falls managers, Kingdom Ventures, the Boti falls was found in the forest by a white catholic priest surveying the area. In the 1960’s the waterfall was very famous, being visited by the first president of the Republic of Ghana, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
When to Visit
The best time to enjoy the Boti falls is during the rainy season, June to August, the two waterfalls merge in the middle by splashing each other. The splash creates a wonderful and colorful rainbow which is regarded by the local people as “a mating ceremony.”
Other attraction at Boti
Eastern Region host some of the beautiful tourist site in Ghana. There are many other destinations you would like to visit in the Eastern Region. Two attractions that are also available for visitors to see but not directly related to the falls are the umbrella rock and the three –head- palm tree.
The locals have managed to develop these sites to enhance the visitor experience, which means that you are not limited only to the falls but other notable attractions as well. The umbrella rock is just 30 minutes’ walk from the Boti falls. The three head palm tree is unique and can be described as the ‘Siemens’ of the plant life. For those who want a guided tour of the forest reserve around the falls, tour guides are available to provide guided tours. The woods also provide a sacred place for those who want to set aside some time to reflect.
Something that is becoming a Ghanaian past-time is picnicking and under the new management of the falls, summer huts have been provided for picnic lovers. And those intending to spend their holidays and anniversaries at the falls should not have any fears. If you happen to be at the falls and failed to carry any food on you, there are local food vendors at the falls. This could be a perfect opportunity for foreign tourists to taste and try some local dishes and fruits as well.
