Ethiopian Airlines provides a certain baggage allowance to its passengers. The amount of luggage or baggage that a passenger can bring onboard a commercial plane for free is known as the baggage allowance.
Ethiopian Airlines has different luggage allowance classifications.
Carry-On Allowance
Business: Up to 2 pieces, each with a maximum weight of 7 kg.
Economy: 1 component weighing no more than 7 kg and measuring no more than 118 cm in length and width (46 in.) Passengers may also bring free of charge personal effects such as a handbag (laptop bag), pocketbook or purse, small camera and/or binoculars, a decent amount of reading material for the flight, and Infant food for consumption in flight, and Infant’s carrying basket.
Checked Baggage Allowance
Economy: Up to 2 pieces, each with a maximum weight of 23 kg (50 lbs.) and a maximum sum of dimensions equal to 158 cm (62 in.).
Cloud Nine: Up to 2 pieces, each with a maximum weight of 32 kg (70 lbs.) and a maximum sum of dimensions equal to 158 cm (62 in.) ShebaMiles Gold, ShebaMiles Silver, and Star Gold: up to 3 pieces.

With the excess luggage rate of excess sporting equipment, the price ranges from $100 to $200 depending on patronized class and size of equipment.
Excess Baggage Charge to carry Television
With the excess luggage rate of excess baggage charge to carry television, the price ranges from $80 to $200 depending on class patronized and television size.
Free Ethiopian Airline Baggage Allowance
The price of a ticket includes the transportation of a certain amount of baggage in the cargo hold of the aircraft. This allowance differs depending on the booking class and the destination.
General Information
- The maximum weight limit in a single bag is 32KG
- The sum of three-dimension (Length + Width + Height) must not exceed 158CM (62Inches)
- If your travel starts in the United States and the first airline on your booking is not Ethiopian different rules may apply (Airline Operating the flight Website link)
- Baggage will be accepted for check-in, only if it properly contains and prevents damage to the contents. Light cardboard boxes, paper bags, and similar non-durable materials are not acceptable. If the passenger so insists, it shall be accepted upon using Limited Release Tags, relieving Ethiopian from any damage claim.
- Acceptance of items that may cause damage to other baggage will be refused unless properly packed.

Delayed, Lost or Damaged Baggage
If your baggage has not arrived, you can report it as delayed online by completing the Lost Baggage Inventory Form (BIF) and sending it to the Ethiopian offices closest to your destination.

Baggage Tracking of Ethiopian Airlines
Ethiopian Airlines apologizes for the delay in locating your luggage. We will make every effort to find and restore your bag. The overall tracing period from the date of the incident is 25 days. During this time, the automated tracing system will compare the profile created for your bag to comparable bags that have gone unclaimed at airports all over the world.

Exceptions
ET and its agents handle all baggage with diligent care. Nevertheless, the damage might happen under certain circumstances. As a general rule, baggage which qualifies for compensation will be subject to repair or replacement. However, ET will assess the degree, time factors and the depreciation rates of baggage, different handling other than repair may be offered.
ET is not liable for the destruction, loss or damage of any baggage caused by:-
– Defects in the material of baggage itself or aging after use
– Minor dents, cuts, scratches, scuffs, dents, dirt and stains.
– Protruding parts such as cover/straps/hooks/belts & lock.
– Damage due to over-packing or inadequate packing of baggage.
– Damage or pilferage resulting from a random search of Transportation Security Administration (TSA) or other safety inspections of each country.
