Hotels, Bars and Restaurants Open across Ghana And a Relief for Local Tourists.

In my previous article about tourism, I explain how Covid-19 is destroying tourism in Ghana and how tiny the tourism industry is surviving on local tourists. Tourism plays a big role in economic growth in Ghana, and Ghana is the most visited country in West African and second in African.

After a long lockdown, the President of Ghana finally open hotels, bars, and restaurants to fully operate under the measure of coronavirus which is social distance (1meter) and wearing on a face mask. Restaurants are now open provided that serving staff wear masks and tables are kept one meter apart with not more than groups of 10 people at any table.
Hotels are to serve clients with the same measures of coronavirus. Disinfection after a client sigh out and wearing of face mask.

People can travel further than 100km from home without the need for a piece of paper downloaded to an app or printed, saying that going to work is necessary. From today, people can travel or chill freely around Ghana. Streets of Accra will be full once again after a long lockdown of bars.

School to reopen for final year students. Both the university and high school. With a maximum of 30 students, masks obligatory, social distance, and washing hands regularly.
Church to reopen for only 100 members per hour with social distance restrictions and wearing of nose mask.
Transport still up and running nationwide. With the same social distance restrictions and the transport system asking the President to increase transportation fare to help practice social distance. They have a point there because they had to reduce the number of passengers to practice social distance. But borders remain closed.

This is a great step for the tourism industry in Ghana to create a fund to help the tourist sector recover. Today’s change has been a welcome relief for the tourism industry, whereas many as 98% of workers to restore their work. This is the time local tourists need to plan for their trip.
