Tagbo Waterfalls – Waterfalls in Ghana

Tagbo waterfalls is located in the Hohoe District of the Volta region, near the little settlement of Liate Wote, about 27 kilometres from the major Hohoe municipality.

With only a few metres separating them, the waterfall is also quite close to the famous Mount Afadja, allowing travellers to climb the summit after spending time at the legendary waterfalls.

Tagbo Waterfalls is located in the lush rain forest that surrounds the hamlet, and guests must trek a few metres through the jungle under the instruction of a tour guide before reaching the waterfalls, which are hidden away in the forest away from the prying eyes of the village residents.

The water cascades 60 metres from the summit of a rocky slope surrounded by lush greenery. On a typical visit to the falls, a few tourists are likely to be encountered, with some even showering beneath the cascade.

The cocoa trees will undoubtedly get your notice. For nature lovers, they are a sight to behold, with a lush carpet of greenery covering the surrounding area. Strong winds characterise Tagbo Waterfalls in Ghana. Another feature of the falls is swimming.

If you do love to swim, do not hesitate to dip your feet in the waters for a swim. Lovebirds, friends, and families can visit the site to have fun. To make your visit memorable, do accompany a tour guide as they would not fail to inform you more about the history of the falls as well as the surrounding area. The local people call the falls water ‘scared water’.

Getting To Tagbo Waterfalls

It takes approximately 35 minutes to walk through the rainforest to reach the Tagbo waterfall, therefore wear very comfortable shoes when going on the tour. The rainforest is also home to a variety of insects, some of which aren’t so friendly and aren’t averse to biting. As a result, it is recommended that you wear gowns that cover your arms and legs to avoid bug bites. Also, don’t forget to bring a bottle of water with you because you may need it along the route.

Ghana Travel Restrictions

Ghana is open to most travelers again. I mean travelers from all over the world. However, you do need proof of your COVID-19 vaccination(s) or a negative test result before being allowed entry.

Many hotels, attractions, and private tours are open with new health & safety protocols in place, and you still have to follow certain guidelines. They are all good for our safety.
