Daboya, which is located in Ghana’s Savannah Region, was previously known as Burugu and was a small and unrecognized town. Due to the rise of commercial centres in Ghana’s northern region, such as Tamale and Wa. Daboya, on the other hand, was formerly the most popular town in the Northern region, known for its huge salt manufacturing and thriving commercial operations.

The territory was later taken by Ndewura Jakpa, a courageous Gonja monarch and warlord, who appointed her daughter as the town’s head and ruler.

Buruwuche, which means “chief of Burugu,” is credited with bringing Burugu, Daboya (formally Burugu) to greater heights and guiding the town’s development and popularity around 1800, when it was at its apex.
