10 Reason Koforidua is The Best City To Live In Ghana

Some top cities in Ghana can be little stressful when you have a life there. There are other top cities that makes life simple but people don’t love to live there. But if you are thinking of moving from some of the bi cities or if you are migrating to Ghana, then Koforidua city is one of the best options for you.

Koforidua, the regional capital of Ghana’s Eastern Region, is probably one of the most popular cities in the country. Many visitors, residents, and workers who have had the opportunity to visit, reside, or work in the city find it difficult to leave and proclaim it to be one of, if not the best, cities or regional capitals in Ghana.

But what makes people think about Koforidua in this light? Mrpocu.com has whittled down the numerous reasons why Koforidua is Ghana’s best city to live in to just ten.

Koforidua

1.No Traffic Jam at any point in Time

Koforidua is one of the few cities in Ghana where traffic is rarely an issue. Unlike Accra and Kumasi, where riding from one point to another might take hours, Koforidua city is traffic-free, and you don’t have to worry about getting up early to avoid the traffic. This has made movement in the city very easy and comfortable, which is one of the reasons why visitors from other countries consider it to be the greatest in Ghana.

2.Good Restaurants with Cheap Foods

Koforidua is one of the few areas in Ghana where you can find excellent restaurants with reasonable food rates. In the country or other cities, this is not as common. You may easily find hotels and restaurants that reach or exceed the standards of Accra or Kumasi, and even provide better service, yet the cost of food is far lower than in Accra. Despite the fact that many people complain that food in Koforidua is costly, dining at the best hotels and restaurants is considerably less expensive than the same stars of hotels in other cities.

3.Cheap Hotel Prices

Another factor that contributes to Koforidua’s status as Ghana’s best city is the low cost of hotels and guest homes. Due to the cosmopolitan nature of the cities and high demand for these facilities, hotels and guest houses in regional capitals are usually highly expensive. However, this is not the situation in Koforidua city, where hotel and guesthouse prices are significantly higher than in other regional capitals. This makes visiting the city quite affordable, as one can easily stay at a guesthouse or hotel for days and still pay less than it would cost to book a hotel in Accra for a day. In Koforidua, hotel rooms that cost GHS150 ($30) in Accra cost only GHS50 ($10).

4.Good Roads

In comparison to the other main cities in Ghana, Koforidua has excellent roadways. Almost every road in the city, large or tiny, is tarred with only a few portholes, which is standard in Ghana, despite the fact that it shouldn’t be. Anyone who has lived in locations like Accra can attest to the fact that the roads in Koforidua are spectacular, since all of the main highways have been tarred.

5.Affordable Accommodation

When compared to Accra, Kumasi, and Takoradi, the cost of accommodation in Koforidua is outrageously low. For the same type of unit, renting in Accra costs around 6 times what it does in Koforidua. Though areas near schools are more expensive, this is true in any other cities because those homes are typically used as student hostels.

The high cost of living has prompted many people to relocate to Koforidua from other parts of Ghana.

6.Moderate Transport Fare

Transportation in Koforidua is hassle-free, and the fares are relatively reasonable. In Koforidua, you will rarely have to pay more than GHS2 for transportation, regardless matter where you are going. If your location is within the city, you should expect to pay no more than GHS2. This is in stark contrast to the situation in other Ghanaian cities, where transportation costs are a major source of frustration for the average citizen. Intriguingly, there is no Trotro in Koforidua city, although taxi costs are nonetheless less expensive than in other cities.

7.All government institutions have branches in Koforidua

Even though Koforidua is only an hour and a half drive from Accra, you won’t need to travel to the capital to interact with any government agency because the city houses offices for the Passport Office, the Drivers and Vehicle License Authority (DVLA), and other government agencies. Others may say that these offices can be found in other cities, but what sets Koforidua apart is that there are no lines.

8.Beautiful Landscapes

The landscape of Koforidua is one of Ghana’s prettiest and most picturesque. People have traveled to India, Sri Lanka, and other countries to see these landscapes. The Akuapem Mountains tower over the town, and the ground isn’t too slanted to one side and has a generally level surface, making transportation easier. The city also has a lot of greenery and trees, which helps to improve the climate for residents. This is something that is lacking in cities like Accra, where it is possible to walk for hours without seeing a tree.

9.Good sanitation

Koforidua is one of, if not the cleanest, city in Ghana today. Going for a jog in the morning and seeing Zoomlion workers cleaning the streets and collecting all trash materials before the sun rises is commonplace. Unfortunately, this is not the situation in most Ghanaian cities. Walking around the streets of Accra, you’ll notice heaps of trash on the roadside, some of which have been left uncollected for days, if not weeks.

10.No flooding

Flooding has been one of Ghana’s most contentious and debated issues for decades, as most parts of the country, particularly our regional capitals, flood during the rainy season. Koforidua city, on the other hand, has been an outlier. The city rarely floods, regardless of how heavy the rain is, and when it does, it rarely affects life and property as it does in cities like Accra, Tamale, and Kumasi.

During the rainy season, Koforidua has become one of the few cities in Ghana where life goes on as usual without citizens making any modifications.

What Koforidua Known For

There is no way to enumerate all of the reasons. Apart from its proximity to Accra and Kumasi, the city’s crime rate is almost non-existent, despite the presence of police officers in a few locations. In Koforidua city, the normal GHS2 gathered by police officers in other cities is not present. The city also has some of the top elementary schools, which are frequented by politicians with second houses in the area.

Its proximity to many attractions, ease of access to other cities, well-attended market days, nightlife, the massive parking area at Jackson Park that is rarely even one-third full, and yes, you get to sample B. Foster Bread while it is still fresh.

Koforidua is without a doubt one of Ghana’s best cities, and one could go on and on about why the city deserves all of the accolades it receives. Koforidua, once a modest and little-known town, is progressively fighting the odds to become Ghana’s greatest metropolis.
