10 Things to Do In Koforidua – 2022

Arguably, Koforidua is one of the best places to stay and visit in the region. It is underrated city in Ghana for tourist looking to visit some attractions. But there are few things one can enjoy in the city. These are few things to do in Koforidua if you looking to explore the city.

The city of Koforidua is the nearest regional capital to Accra, the country’s capital. It takes about two hours and a half to get there, possibly less depending on traffic in Accra. Upon you arrive in the city, you are greeted by its tranquility, which is in stark contrast to what one observes when entering Accra.

Its inhabitants are predominantly Akans, with a few other tribes thrown in for good measure. As a result, it is a small town with a diverse population. From Accra, there are two options for getting into the city: Aburi or Nsawam.

There are few thing to engage in when you visit the city. Mrpocu.com has outline fun things to do in Koforidua when you visit.

Ghana Travel Restrictions

Ghana is open to most travelers again. I mean travelers from all over the world. However, you do need proof of your COVID-19 vaccination(s) or a negative test result before being allowed entry.

Many hotels, attractions, and private tours are open with new health & safety protocols in place, and you still have to follow certain guidelines. They are all good for our safety.

Top places in Koforidua

1.Stay a Night At The Eastern Premier Hotel

This is the newest addition to the city’s plethora of magnificent hotels; you might want to stop by to get a sense of what the city has to offer. This 3-star hotel, which has wonderful rooms of all types, a gym where you can sweat out all your stress, an ultramodern restaurant and bar, modern conference facilities, and more, is a location you should look into if you need a place to stay.

2.Enjoy Nightlife The Dadi’s Bar

This is the most vibrant nightlife location in Koforidua. There is plenty to drink and eat, as well as continuous Ghanaian music from a live band or a PA system that will keep your ears tingling till sunrise.

3.Visit The Koforidua Central Market

The market, like its Accra counterpart Makola, is one of the country’s largest. It has almost everything you’d find in a normal Ghanaian market. Its allure stems from the way vendors entice customers to buy their items. Despite the fact that the market has shops and stands, the twin market is home to a slew of different vendors that choose to hawk along the path. These are both an eyesore and a lovely sight to behold.

4.Visit The Beads Market

Arguably the largest in West Africa and the only one of its kind in Ghana, you are going to be mesmerised by the sheer size of the market and the different types of beads and craft that are made out of beads. This is where all the makers of beads in the country gather every Thursday. The market is located at the Galloway Junction adjacent the centre for national arts and culture.

5.Visit Boti Water Falls

The famed Boti falls is the first of two waterfalls adjacent to the city, albeit they are not within the city of Koforidua itself. The male and female twin waterfalls rise 250 feet from the earth and will hold your attention for a long time. Tourists have had such a fantastic time visiting the falls that they have had to fight the temptation of overstaying the location, despite the fact that they will have to drop 90 and over steps and over to go to the falls.

The area (Boti) is home to natural wonders such as the umbrella rock, a natural cave where ancients used to live, and a three-headed palm tree. Boti, which is about a 20-minute drive on the eastern side of Koforidua, is one tourist destination you can’t miss once you step foot in the city because it has all of these things in one place.

The warning is not to visit on a national holiday since there will be too many people who have come to see the natural wonder; however, if you enjoy being in the crowd and making new acquaintances, then a national holiday will be the greatest day for you to visit.

6.Climb Obour Tabiri

Because of its advantageous location, the mountain that contains many Masts rises 781 feet into the sky. The fact that it is a long walk to the summit of the mountain is a deterrent. The route to the summit of the mountain is in such bad shape that you’ll want to drive up the mountain with caution.

The residents of the mountaintop enclave are cut off from the rest of the city. You’ll be closer to the clouds with a much more calm and rich atmosphere, yet you’ll be astounded with the uniqueness of rural life up the mountain. If you have the time, it is recommended that you spend some time trekking up the mountain on foot to take in the breathtaking views. As one ascends and descends the mountain, thigh pain is unavoidable.

7.Visit The Umbrella Rock

Decent hike from the starting point to get here. At first the hike is pretty flat but it gets steeper as you go. The last section is literally climbing up rocks to get to it, but once you do, it’s a pretty view of the surrounding area. The Umbrella Rick is on the same property as Boti Falls, so if you’re going to Boti Falls, start with this nice hike prior to going to the falls.

8.Enjoy The Atewa Range

The Atewa rain forest is part of the upper Guinea Forest habitat. This type of woodland is one of the 34 most important biodiversity hotspots on the planet. Atewa is one of Ghana’s two upland evergreen forests, forming the south-western border of Lake Volta. The range is made up of steep-sided hills with relatively flat peaks and runs roughly north-south. Atewa is a lovely rain forest with a wide range of plants and a great number of birds and other animals.

If you are in Ghana, take time and visit the beautiful Atewa Range forest.

9.Enjoy Nightlife Cassa bar

It wouldn’t be inaccurate to refer to it as Koforidua’s hidden gem for true nightlife. For both good and terrible causes, Cassa Bar, located across from the Bedtime Hotel, has been on many people’s minds. Cassa Bar is the kind of place where you can “hide” from everyone in town and never be seen. The modern wooden structure of the premise appeals to the upper crust. It’s no wonder that several “discussion programs” and “meet-ups” have taken place there.

Cassa is one of those places that never sleeps, making it a popular hangout spot for “men.” Cassa is a wonderful alternative if you’re in Koforidua and looking for a location with a trendy ambiance.

Cassa’s nightlife is fantastic; you’ll notice it right immediately because the entry is greeted by small groups of individuals chit-chatting as if the day had just just begun.

10.Visit Commercial Bank street

This street runs from the Gabson Pharmacy-Mobile 2 Junction to the All Nations University City Campus. This street is one of the busiest in the financial district, and it never sleeps. There are certain stores on this street that are only open at night, and some things are only available at night. While this street is extremely alert, it is also extremely unsafe, since it has been related to a number of incidents.
