Because there are lots of tourist sites in Ghana to visit and tourists don’t regret visiting.

1.Cape Coast Castle

Visiting the Cape Coast castle can get your tears to drop. This castle is one of the top tourist sites in Ghana I would recommend for my readers. If you want to know more about the Africa-America slave history, this is the must-visit destination in Africa for travelers. It is located in the Cape Coast, the capital of the central region of Ghana. It is the most renowned castle in West Africa. The Cape Coast castle was built by the Portuguese traders in 1555 after they arrived at the coast of Ghana (then Gold Coast). It was built purposely for the trade of Gold and other mineral but later converted into a slave-trading castle, where they kept captured slaves for onward shipping to Europe. The castle now hosts millions of tourist around the world

2.Elmina Castle

The Elmina castle is the second must-see destination on my list, you can make it yours because it is worth seeing. It is also located in the Central region and it’s about 15km from the Cape Coast Castle. So, after your visit to the Cape castle, you can make another visit to the Elmina castle. The castle is the first and the oldest in Ghana. The Elmina castle was built in 1482 by the Portuguese traders who intended to use it as a commercial trading port. But was later converted into human slave trafficking. The British later secure the castle and was later handed over to the government of Ghana after independence in 1957.

3.Kakum National Park.

The Kakum National Park brings lots of memories from childhood and obvious it’s the nation’s favorite park. Kakum National Park is one of the most popular tourist sites in Ghana. It’s is also one of the must-visit destinations for a family or group of people. There is no doubt Central Region host most of the popular tourist sites in Ghana. It is located about 35km from Cape Coast. The park is known by its canopy walkway, which hangs loosely in the air and some hundred feet from ground level, making it more adventure for a scary experience yet a memorable one. The park also has some unique species of plants and home to some other unique animals. These animals include buffalos, meerkats, civets, elephants, and several species of birds.

4.Aburi Botanical Garden

If my opinion can change the world, then Aburi Botanical Garden is the most beautiful botanical garden in Ghana. It is also a must-visit attraction in West Africa. The garden occupies an area of 64.8 hectares and was first opened in March 1890. It was founded by Governor William Branford-Griffith and one John Farrell, a Sierra Leonean medical doctor. In the early 19s, the garden played a very important role in the production of cocoa as the garden specialized in growing cocoa seeds and also served as a center where research on cocoa seeding took place. It is located in the Eastern Region and it’s one of the most visited attractions in the Eastern Region of Ghana.

5.Nzulezu Village

True or false: Nzulezu village is the most beautiful village in Ghana. Surprise – the answer is false (lol). But it’s the most visited village in Ghana. The country’s most visited village is a village built on water. Located some 90km West Takoradi and is a strong town that cannot be called an island or a community on the land. The village is found right on the water called Lake Tadane
It was nominated as a UNESCO Heritage site and has grown over the decades in terms of popularity and has become one of the most visited destinations in Ghana and also Africa.

6.Paga Crocodile Pond

It’s a sacred pond in Paga in the Upper East Region of Ghana. This is nothing wild and scary as you see in movies. It is inhabited by West African Crocodiles due to the friendliness of the reptiles. The Paga Crocodile Pond also is known as chief pong has become popular among tourist sites in Ghana and the pond is now reliant on tourism to ensure the population of crocodile remains feed and healthy. The crocodiles are friendly that the local children can swim in the pond alongside them without being harmed.

7.Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum

Hey, the history learners; Hopefully you have your cameras and papers ready to write something down and take some pictures. The Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum, also known as the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park is said to be the last resting place of the first President of Ghana, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, and wife Fatia. The mausoleum was built on the old polo grounds in 1992 under the presidency of Fit. Lieut. Jerry John Rawlings. The Mausoleum aims to keep the legacy and historical artifacts of the man who won independence for Ghana. It is located opposite the old parliament house of Ghana.

8.Boti falls

Imagine killing two birds with one stone. Don’t just visit to watch the waterfalls, you can swim as well. The beautiful Boti falls is located at Manya Krobo in the Eastern Region. It’s an amazing twin waterfall that falls side by side separated by a small rock. Some believe to be a male and a female, which the bigger side is the male, and the other small fall is a female. The Boti falls are 30 meters high from the ground level. The best time to enjoy the falls is during the rainy season, June and August.

9.Mole National Park

You can’t visit Africa and not experience wildlife and nature unless you are here on a business trip. But if you are here for a solo or family vacation, Mole National Park is the best destination in Ghana to experience wildlife. It’s located in the Northern Region of Ghana. The famous animals that can be found at the Mole park are the African bush elephant and antelopes. According to a study conducted at the park indicates that over 800 elephants can be found at the Mole National Park. There are other species you can found in the park such as buffalos, antelopes, and hippos. Monkeys have also made the park their place stay, olive baboons, black and white colobus monkeys, the green vervet, and pates monkeys all residing at the park.

10.Cape Three Point

Cape Three Point is the southernmost tip of Ghana and marked by an iconic lighthouse which is over 84 years old. It’s one of the most beautiful beaches on the west coast and surrounded is the only coastal rainforest reserve in Ghana, as well as many rolling hills. It a good place for the beach lover and hiking activities. It is a must-see destination in the Central Region.

11.Labadi Beach

Talking for tourist sites, Labadi beach is among the most visited tourist destination by tourists, both local and international tourists on holidays and festive periods. Labadi Beach, popularly known as the La Pleasure beach is the most popular and most visited beach in Ghana. The beach is in a town called La, popularly known as Labadi, near Teshie in the country’s capital. The beach is surrounded by some of the finest hotels in the capital, for tourists who would like to stay close to the sea and enjoy the view. An entrance fee to those not staying in the hotel is charged.

12.Lake Volta

Volta lake is the largest man-made lake in African and the second man-made in the world. The lake is formed by the Akosombo Dam, which begun in 1961 and was completed in 1965 by the formal President Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’s government. It is about 250 miles (400km) long and covers 3,283 square miles or 3.6 percent of Ghana’s land.

The lake is navigable and provides a cheap route linking Ghana’s northern savanna with the coast. It is also the major fishing ground and provides irrigation water for farmland in the dry Accra plains lying immediately below the dam site. The generating capacity of the dam’s hydro-electric power plant is 912 megawatts of electricity. This power is used by the aluminum smelter located at the port of Tema and supplies most of Ghana’s electricity needs.
