Tourist Attraction: Kakum National Park
The Kakum National Park, established in 1931 with a great expanse of greenery, is certainly one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country. The park protects a breathtaking wilderness area with over 40 distinct animal species. There is also a 350-meter-long canopy walkway that connects seven tree tops and provides access to the forest as well as spectacular views. In Ghana, Kakum is home to the country’s densest population of forest elephants. Make sure to stop by and have a look.

Volta Region
Tourist Attractions: Mount Afadjato & Wil Waterfalls
Mount Afadjato, with a height of 885 meters and a beautiful outlook, is located in the Agumatsa Range near the settlements of Liati Wote and Gbledi, in the Volta Region of Ghana, close to the border with Togo. It is Ghana’s highest peak, and most visitors come for breathtaking vistas and fantastic trekking opportunities.
The Wli Waterfalls near Hohoe, also in the Volta Region, are West Africa’s longest cascading waterfall, spanning 143 meters from the upper fall to the plunge pool below.
Its sheer magnificence, height, attractiveness, and cool surroundings surpass any expectations. It is a natural attraction that all tourists will want to see.

Upper East Region
Tourist Attraction: Paga Crocodile Pond
A sacred pond in Paga, Ghana’s Upper East Region, where West African crocodiles live. Make a pit stop here for the chance to sit on these crocodiles for the cameras. This is the only spot in Africa where you can get up close and personal with enormous, harmless crocodiles. The only thing they’ll ask for is a chicken from you. It can be a little scary but it is fun and safe.

Upper West Region
Tourist Attraction: Wechiau Community Hippo Sanctuary
The Wechiau Hippo Sanctuary, a community-protected area in Ghana’s Upper West Region, is located in the far northwestern corner of the country. It runs the length of the Black Volta River, which forms the region’s western border with Burkina Faso, for 40 kilometres. Hippos, bats, chameleons, hedgehogs, and a variety of lizards and snakes call it home. With over 200 species catalogued and new sights spotted on a daily basis, the sanctuary is a fantastic place to see birds. There are a lot more animals in the refuge than only hippos. It’s a great place to go bird watching, including species of woodland savannah, riverine, and forest shore birds. You can also go hiking and look for monitor lizards, bats, hedgehogs, pythons, and even chameleons on the many trails.

Western Region
Tourist Attraction: Nzulezu Stilt
The settlement of Nzulezo, situated on stilts above a lagoon about 90 kilometres west of Takoradi in the Jomoro District of the Western Region, is located about 90 kilometres west of Takoradi. It’s really one long pier with houses on both sides, which the locals call Main Street. Living quarters are on one side of the the’street,’ while businesses, a school, a community centre, and other commercial activities are on the other. The community can only be visited once a week due to the people’s traditional beliefs, and the only way to get there is via canoe.

Tourist Attraction: Lake Volta
The Greenwich Meridian runs across Lake Volta, which is only six degrees north of the Equator. It is one of the world’s largest man-made lakes, with options for cruising, particularly to the Dodi Islands. Make a point of stopping here if you enjoy skiing.

Brong Ahafo Region
Tourist Attraction: Digya National Park
The 3,743 sq km Digya National Park is the second-largest national park and the oldest protected area in Ghana. It was created in 1900 as Ghana’s first protected area and given national park status in 1971. Digya Park is the only wildlife territory in Ghana to border Lake Volta, where manatees and clawless otters can be found. The park is also home to at least six varieties of primates and over 230 bird species and has the second-largest elephant population in Ghana. The sights and views of these destinations are amazing to see and visit, and won’t be quite difficult to decide on the places to visit in Ghana.
